Australian sapphires
Australian sapphires are known for their rich blues, greens, teals and remarkable parti-coloured varieties. In a parti sapphire, two or more colours appear within a single natural stone, creating combinations that can change in appearance with the light and viewing angle.
We source Australian sapphires primarily from Queensland, including the Rubyvale region, with selected stones from other Australian deposits. We're especially drawn to unusual colour combinations and cuts that bring out the character of the individual gem.

Ceylon sapphires
Ceylon is the traditional trade name for Sri Lanka, an origin celebrated for its sapphires. Blue Ceylon sapphires can range from delicate, airy shades to vivid, saturated blues, while the island also produces pink, yellow and other fancy-coloured stones.
We source through small family businesses, local gemstone suppliers and independent gem cutters, allowing us to seek out individual stones rather than limiting the selection to standard sizes and colours. If you're looking for a particular blue or a softer pastel sapphire, we can explore options to suit your design.

Madagascar sapphires
Madagascar produces sapphires across an unusually broad spectrum of colour, including blue, pink, yellow, green and delicate pastel tones. This variety makes it an exciting origin for anyone looking beyond a traditional blue sapphire engagement ring.
Our Madagascar sapphires are sourced through small family businesses, local gemstone suppliers and directly from gemstone cutters. We look for attractive colour, pleasing proportions and stones with their own distinct character, whether that's an understated pastel or a more unusual combination of hues.

We can explain whether a sapphire is heated or unheated, discuss its known origin and help you compare how stones look in natural and indoor lighting. Our aim is to find a gemstone you genuinely connect with, while being transparent about its characteristics.
Custom sapphire engagement rings
Every sapphire has its own dimensions and proportions, which is why we design the setting around the individual stone. Together, we'll refine the ring's silhouette, band profile, setting height and finer details, including how it will sit beside a future wedding ring.
Designs progress through sketches and CAD, with an optional resin model before production. Each ring is then made and hand-finished in Adelaide with our local manufacturing team, using precious metals sourced through a Responsible Jewellery Council-certified supplier.

Are sapphires suitable for everyday engagement rings?
Yes. Sapphire is a durable gemstone, rated 9 on the Mohs hardness scale, making it a popular choice for engagement rings. As with any gemstone, it can still chip or be damaged by a hard impact, so an appropriate setting and sensible care are important.
Can I choose my own sapphire?
Yes. You can choose a stone from our Gem Vault or ask us to source sapphire options based on your preferred origin, colour, shape, size and budget.
What is the difference between Australian, Ceylon and Madagascar sapphires?
All three origins produce natural corundum sapphires, but their individual stones can differ in colour and appearance. Australian sapphires are especially well known for deep blues, greens, teals and parti colours. Sri Lanka, traditionally called Ceylon, is famous for blue sapphires and also produces fancy colours. Madagascar supplies a particularly wide range of hues. Origin alone does not determine a sapphire's quality or value.
What is a parti sapphire?
A parti sapphire shows two or more distinct colours within a single natural gemstone, often combinations of blue, green and yellow. The appearance depends on how the stone's colour zoning is positioned and cut.
Are your sapphires heated or unheated?
We offer both heated and unheated sapphires, depending on availability. Heat treatment is commonly used in the gemstone industry to improve colour or clarity. We disclose known treatments and can explain the details of individual stones before you choose.
Can I view sapphires in Adelaide before deciding?
Yes. We offer private appointments at our Adelaide CBD studio, where you can view available sapphires and discuss your engagement ring design. Let us know if there's a particular gemstone you would like to see so we can confirm availability ahead of your appointment.
How much does a sapphire engagement ring cost?
The price depends on the sapphire's size, colour, cut, origin, treatments and rarity, as well as the precious metal and complexity of the setting. We can discuss designs and source gemstones to suit your preferred budget.
How long does a custom sapphire engagement ring take?
Most custom engagement rings take approximately six to eight weeks from design approval, depending on stone sourcing, CAD development and manufacturing requirements. We can advise on timing during your consultation.
