Jewellery Remodelling & Heirloom Redesign

Personalised jewellery remodels in Adelaide, crafted to honour the story of your original piece while creating something you’ll love to wear every day.

A personalised approach to jewellery remodels in Adelaide

Over time, even the most sentimental pieces can stop feeling like “you” – settings wear down, styles change, or a ring no longer fits your life. Remodelling allows us to honour the meaning of your original jewellery while giving it a new life in solid gold.

As an Adelaide jewellery designer, I work carefully with your existing gemstones and metal to design a piece that feels intentional, balanced and wearable every day. Whether it’s an inherited ring, an outdated engagement setting or a collection of loose stones, we’ll guide you through what’s possible and how a jewellery remodel in Adelaide might look for you.

What we can remodel

Every piece is assessed individually, but as a guide, we can often work with:

  • Existing diamond or coloured gemstone rings
  • Engagement rings and wedding bands that need a fresh design
  • Solitaire pendants and stud earrings that could be re-set
  • Family rings or heirloom pieces that are worn, uncomfortable or not your style

We generally work in solid gold (9ct, 14ct and 18ct) and platinum. Plated, costume or very worn hollow pieces may not be suitable – in those cases we’ll talk through other options at your appointment.

Using your existing stones and gold

Wherever possible, we’ll re-use your existing gemstones. Each stone is checked for chips, wear and suitability for your chosen design before we proceed. If a stone isn’t structurally sound enough to be re-set safely, we’ll explain why and recommend alternatives.

Some older stones can show signs of wear across the table and facet edges. In certain cases, we can arrange for a local lapidarist to carefully repolish your stones and bring them back to life, provided it’s safe to do so for the material and design.

Your old gold can often be refined and used as a credit towards the new piece. This ensures your new design is crafted in fresh, structurally sound metal while still carrying the value and sentiment of the original.

We don’t work with ultra-soft stones or plated jewellery for remodelling projects. Suitability is always assessed at our discretion, with your piece’s structural integrity as the priority.

How the remodelling process works

Step 1 – Enquiry

Share a few details about your existing jewellery, your ideas and budget via our bespoke enquiry form. Clear photos are helpful, but not essential.

Step 2 – In-studio or virtual appointment

We’ll meet in our Adelaide studio (or online if you’re interstate) to review your jewellery, talk through design directions and discuss how you’d like to wear the new piece.

Step 3 – Design & quote

From here we create a considered design – often with sketches or a 3D CAD render – and provide a detailed quote for your remodel, including any additional stones or metal required.

Step 4 – Crafting your new piece

Once approved, your design moves into production. Your piece is cast in solid gold, hand-finished and stone-set by our trusted local jewellers before a final polish and quality check.

Pricing & timeframes

Because every jewellery remodel is unique, pricing will always depend on the complexity of the design, the amount of metal required and whether we’re adding new gemstones.

You’ll receive a detailed quote before any work begins, so there are no surprises. Typical timeframes for remodelling are around 6–10 weeks from design approval, depending on the season and the complexity of your piece.

If you have a specific date in mind – a proposal, wedding or milestone – please let us know early and we’ll advise what’s realistic.

Jewellery Remodelling FAQs

Can you use my existing diamonds or gemstones?

In many cases, yes. Each stone is assessed for chips, wear and structural suitability before we confirm whether it can be safely reset into a new design.

Can you use my old gold?

Your old gold can often be refined and used as a credit towards your new piece. We generally create the new design in fresh, structurally sound metal to ensure durability and longevity.

Is jewellery remodelling cheaper than buying new?

Not always. Remodelling can sometimes reduce costs if we are reusing existing gemstones or applying a gold credit, but pricing depends on the complexity of the design, the metal required and any additional stones.

How long does jewellery remodelling take?

Most jewellery remodelling projects take around 6–10 weeks from design approval, depending on the complexity of the piece and the time of year.
